The UGC-sponsored programme B. Com. Computer Applications was started in 1999 and functioned under the Department of Commerce for five years, before turning out to be a self financing programme. The Department of Commerce (Self Financing) was subsequently established and presently has 250 students and 11 faculty members.
The Department of Commerce (SF) at St. Dominic’s College offers innovative double-major undergraduate FYUGP programs designed to provide students with strong academic grounding and industry-oriented skills.
The department runs two batches: one with majors in Finance & Taxation and Accounting, and another with majors in Logistics and Marketing. Students also pursue a minor in Computer Application, featuring papers such as Documentation Tools and Techniques, AI Presentation Tools, and AI Techniques for Data Analysis.
As part of the FYUGP system, students undergo a mandatory internship in the 4th semester, enabling them to gain practical exposure and hands-on experience. The department has established MOUs with reputed industries, both nearby and across the state, to support and facilitate these internship opportunities.
Additionally, the department offers Multidisciplinary Courses (MDC) and Value Added Courses (VAC) in Computer Application, Statistics, and Business Administration, ensuring a well-rounded and future-ready learning experience. Through this integrated academic structure, the department strives to groom competent, confident, and professionally capable graduates.
